Why Honda?
You can never have enough power as far as I'm concerned....there was a famous quote from an american racer who said that once you could leave black lines from the exit of one corner to the braking point of the next you had enough power. I tend to agree.
Once I got fed up of rebuilding my old K series powered car I decided honda was the way to go if I wanted to reliably achieve 200+ horsepower. I deliberated over it for a long time as I wasn't sure it was the right way to go, i'd read a lot (which is never a substitute for actually doing something) and thought I understood most of the issues associated with the honda conversion before I decided to give it go myself.
With help from a handful of very clever friends I built K20 HPE on the drive at home...at times shovelling snow out of the way so I could carry on with the job!
It wasn't perfect, but it was pretty good and it absolutely obliterated my expectations. I thought it was going to be good but I wasn't prepared for just how good. On paper it made just 30hp more than my old 190hp K series powered elise, but on the road it felt like it had 130hp more.
Fast forward a couple of years and i'm now lucky enough to have built a few of these for customers, refining the conversion each time and making improvements wherever I can. My own car is now by far the worst i've built which meant I had to tear it down and start again....watch this space!
